A trip through Africa with food and wine on Nov 23rd, 2009

Ambrosia is out in public again helping to raise funds for the local Elder care foundation.

Savouries, Sweets & Sips - an African Safari

Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort & Spa, Nov 23. 7pm

A culinary safari, indeed! Noting that winegrowing in South Africa celebrates its 350th birthday this year, more than a dozen of the Island’s top chefs have been challenged to create a fabulous appetizer, paired to a specific South African Wine and/or a sumptuous dessert using Amarula Cream as one of the ingredients.

The evening will kick off with a bubbly reception where you can meet the chefs and peruse their creations. Once seated in the ballroom, each chef or team will be introduced and say a few words about their creation, before you are treated to an educational tasting seminar featuring the wines of the evening. Then, you'll be set free to taste, pair and vote for your favourites.

Tickets are $60, with all proceeds to benefit the Greater Victoria Eldercare Foundation. For more information and to order tickets call 250-370-5664, right away.

Ambrosia and Habitat for Humanity

This coming Wednesday, November 18th, 2009 is the 4th annual Great Gingerbread Build at the Laurel Point Inn.  The gala includes fabulous food offerings from several other restaurants in town as well as Ambrosia. Chef Steve Walker-Duncan will be serving up Prime Rib and Cherry Sliders to a sold out crowd.

While the Gala event is the 18th, Habitat for Humanity for the first time, will have Gingerbread creations from over 50 contributors on display for 6 weeks. You can come down to look at all the fantastic creations from professionals, amateurs, young students, corporations and media personalities.

Habitat for Humanity has teamed up with Bear Wear at The Hotel Grand Pacific and the Festival of Trees on display at The Fairmont Hotel Empress for a season of visual treats. The three hotels will have all of these offerings on display until the first week of January 2010.
